Supermarket Awareness Program (SAP)

Before Crown Disposal and Community Recycling came on to the scene in 1994 there were as many as 2,450 tons of supermarket waste being thrown into landfills every week. Fortunately, just about all of that material is now being hauled to our Community Recycling facility in Sun Valley, California where it is pre-processed prior to being taken to our compost site in Lamont, California.

We take pride in taking such a significant amount of what would have been simply thrown away and putting it right back into the ground as pure, organic compost where it can contribute to the growth of some of the best fruits, vegetables and grains on the planet.
